NGTP Named Best Telematics Component Solution

DETROIT (Telematics Detroit 2008), May 21, 2008 – Connexis has received the Best Telematics Component Solution award at Telematics Update’s sixth annual Telematics Awards for the Next Generation Telematics Protocol (NGTP) initiative, a collaboration initiated by BMW.

The award, which comes only four months after NGTP’s public launch at the 2008 Consumer Electronics Show, was presented on 20 May 2008 at a gala opening the Telematics Detroit 2008 Conference and Exhibition.

NGTP is an open, fully modular approach to telematics services that separates the components of the service delivery chain for greater flexibility to add or change suppliers and services.  NGTP is device-independent and can increase the quality and range of services at a competitive value proposition.  BMW will implement the NGTP framework in 2010.

“We are pleased that the industry has recognized our joint effort to meet the challenges of the evolving telematics landscape,” noted Bruno Simon, Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of Connexis.  “By bringing greater openness, flexibility, and scalability to telematics, the NGTP approach is uniquely positioned to benefit all players in the telematics value chain.”

The NGTP website regularly receives inquiries from a range of industry players seeking to understand the framework and its benefits.  To learn more about NGTP and download its openly available specifications, please visit www.ngtp.org
